A nutritious diet is what a welder needs because welding requires physical effort. If you seriously want to stay healthy, then you need to be serious about what your intake. As a welder, your body needs a lot of energy to be able to perform the physically demanding activities ahead of you. This also means you have to consume a lot of calories to keep you energetic. If you often exercise or still do sports and are under 50, then you need up to 3,000 calories every day to meet the energy levels your physical body requires. If you’re older and less active, you’ll need more calories to keep up with your job.

Exercise, exercise, exercise!

exercise-vectorSpeaking of an active lifestyle, you need to work out regularly to stay fit as well. A healthy welder can only remain healthy if he or she exercises. After all, using electrical tools plus staying still in awkward body positions can cause the body to become inflexible and stiff. Using handheld tools can even increase your risk of having carpal tunnel syndrome, which is an illness you don’t want to have. Welding tasks can also be repetitive, so you have to exercise often to make sure your body can still move when you want, how you want. Don’t ignore cardiovascular exercises like running, swimming, and cycling. They can lengthen your endurance and keep your lungs and heart healthy. An active lifestyle is what you need if you’re a welder. If you want your body to remain flexible until you’re in your 60s or 70s, then you better start heading to the gym before or after your welding job.

Wearing the right attire

welding-attireLastly, a welder can stay healthy by going to work sporting the correct welding outfit. And by that, I mean, safety glasses, a welding helmet, long sleeves, ear plugs, close-toed shoes, and welding gloves. They can keep you healthy by helping you avoid harmful flames, electrical arcs, chemicals, and fumes.

Just because you’ve been welding for a long time doesn’t mean you can skip one of those safety gears. Welding exposes you to UV radiation, bright light, plus heavy equipment like the Hobart Handler 140. It may even expose you to fire. So, to stay safe and healthy, protect your skin by wearing the recommended welding attire. The right outfit can help you avoid injuries while welding.

Stay healthy and happy as a welder!

Happier And Fitter You

happier you

Whoever said that being fit only comes with pain and suffering has probably never been truly happy in life. While it’s true that there’s no gain if there’s no pain when it comes to fitness, it’s also true that there’s no happiness if there’s no pain when it comes to fitness.

Just like in life, being fit comes with trials that may seem too overwhelming to overcome. And just like in life, being fit comes with challenges that may seem too overpowering to conquer. But you know what? Just like in life, there’s no trial in fitness that you can’t overcome. And just like in life, there’s no challenge fitness that you can’t conquer.

What’s more, all you need to do is think of every step you will take as a pebble’s stone closer to your goals in life. And ultimately, all you need to do is think of every stone you will take as a hand’s reach to your happiness in life.

And it’s because of how fitness is really like – for you to become happier, all the while becoming fitter.

Even if you’re just doing very simple exercises like breathing deeply on the floor and stretching as far as you can, you are already one pebble’s stone closer to your goals. Even if you’re just doing simple exercises like pushing softly on the wall and jumping as high as you can, you are already one hand’s reach closer to your happiness.

And it’s all because of how fitness is really like – for you to become happier, all the while becoming fitter.

Now, what more if you’re doing elaborate exercises such as running around the block a couple of times and planking for as long as you can? And now, what more if you’re doing very elaborate exercises such as cycling around the park for a number of times and pilating for as many as you can? You will not only be two pebbles’ stone closer to your goals, but also two hands’ reach to your happiness.

Why Exercising with a Friend or Group is Good for You

Fitness is essentially a solitary pursuit. You start the journey on your own by making that decision to get active or stay fit, if you are already on track. And unless you sign up for a team sport or group class, you are pretty much on your own. While some people have no trouble staying motivated exercising on their own, there are those who may need the extra push from others at some point. If you are having trouble sticking with an exercise routine, it may be a good time to find a fitness partner or group who can help you stay on track. Exercising with others add an element of challenge, fun, and inspiration. It could also provide a break from usual routines that may become boring over time.

Find an exercise partner or group. Invite family and friends to join you in one of your exercise routines. You can go walking, running, swimming, or engage in a wide array of fun, physical activities that might encourage them to start exercising with you.

Look for someone who has similar exercise goals. Another way to get motivated to work out is to find a workout or recreational activity partner who shares the same fitness goals as yours. If you are training for your first marathon, you could seek out potential exercise buddies who may be aiming for the same thing. If you are trying to lose weight, you can look for someone who is serious about shedding the excess weight.

Set a challenge or goal. Talk about your fitness plan and goals with your fitness partner or group. What improvements are you aiming for? Having clear, shared goals can help in keeping you and your exercise buddy motivated to achieve the results you want.

Mark it on your calendar. Set a regular workout meet-up with your fitness partner or group. Mark it on your calendar. You and your exercise buddy should agree on an exercise schedule that works best for both of you. You can start with a few days a week until such time you become more comfortable sticking to more regular or daily workout sessions.

Give each other a push. Not everyone is motivated to exercise every single day. Pay attention to your fitness partner or group’s level of motivation. Give the needed push or motivation, if needed.

Celebrate milestones and progress. Keep track of your progress and give yourselves well-deserved rewards for goals met. Taking time to notice small improvements can boost your motivation and inspire you to keep going.
