All that hullabaloo caused by the enthusiastic kiss he placed on her cheek hasn’t stopped heartthrob Richard Gere from keeping in touch with Shilpa Shetty.

The actor has raised hackles among conservatives in India when he, during an AIDS awareness event in Delhi last month, he enthusiastically embraced Shetty.



Things came to such a heated head that a warrant was also issued for Gere's arrest.

And though he has since apologised for the kiss, the actor couldn’t help but being very concerned for the Bollywood beauty.

So concerned was he, Shetty reveals, that he kept calling her at least once a day to make sure that she was ok.


"He was so worried about me, he called me every day - sometimes twice! It was mortifying for him to have hit the headlines over something like this, but he was so generous about it all and kept calling me to make sure I was alright," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.

"He was genuinely very concerned about me. That is the kind of man he is," she added.
