Shilpa Shetty, the international 'Big Brother' celebrity has recently adopted four villages through NDTV Greenathon, which she plans to contribute to providing solar power-based electricity under the 'Lighting a Billion Lives' project. For this project she has come up with a brilliant idea.
Shilpa Shetty who holds 12.5% shares in IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals along with her boyfriend and UK business magnate Raj Kundra has decided to donate to these villages Rs.6000 per every six hit by her Rajasthan Royals batsman at Indian Premier League matches. The money thus collected will be invested in solar-power plant project for providing electricity to her adopted villages. Shilpa Shetty has plans to raise three lakhs or more per village for the overall development of her adopted villages.
Shilpa Shetty has also started the 'Shilpa Shetty Foundation' [SSF] for taking care of poor children's education. She now plans to expand her philanthropic activities.
